Curls

Thought I'd switch it up a bit... Loving my curls right now. Wish I could do this always, but with my workout schedule I'm a little lazy in the hair department.

What do you guys think of the curls??

I have been lusting after the Louis Vuitton mahina XXL for some time now (1.5 years to be exact). Finally as a birthday present for myself...i bought a chocolate brown beautiful mahina XXL. I am into bags that are understated...and this is definitely one of those bags. Good news...It also can double as your carry on for the plane...guess what will be traveling with me to NYC this fall...

Maximize your results of your vitamins

Spotlight On: Anti-Oxidants & Vitamins for Summer Beauty

Summer is finally here! Although the change in weather allows for an increase in fun outdoor activities, the harsh nature of the sun can quickly wreak havoc on your skin!  Take measures to protect your skin this summer from harmful, wrinkle causing, UV rays by always using a sunscreen with at least 30 SPF.

Keep your skin glowing and maximize any rejuvenating procedures you may indulge in such as neurotoxins or fillers by using an antioxidant and getting enough vitamin absorption!  Antioxidants will help fight against the additional harmful free radical that the summer sun brings.  All vitamins are important, as they keep your body functioning at its best, but vitamins A, C and E are especially important for your skin.  Vitamin A speeds up cellular turnover, which makes it a natural exfoliant.  Vitamin C helps decrease any pigmentation issues and Vitamin E is a natural hydrator.
A-C-E your summer glow!

Power Smoothie
This smoothie won't sit heavy on your stomach, so it's great before a workout, and makes a good breakfast. It contains tofu to give you energy, and blackberries, raspberries, cranberries and blueberries for vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
  • 3/4 cup mixed frozen berries
  • 3 ounces extra firm tofu
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 6 ounces cranberry juice
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed

Put all the ingredients into your blender and blend on "pulse" for one minute until the smoothie is finely chopped.
Blend for an additional 30 seconds or until smooth.

Nautical

TGIF! Wow what a week...time surely flies when you are having fun...or is it because I'm getting older? Either way, it flew by.

The weather in Chicago lately... Feels like summer has finally arrived. This makes me think of all things nautical.

Get Your Skin Baby Smooth...

Q&A with Meisha:

Q.  What exactly is Dermaplaning and how can it help my skin?

A.  Are you a woman that suffers from what we affectionately call "peach fuzz" on the sides of your face? Well, there is a solution for us gals who don't want to feel like we have a furry animal residing on your cheeks. So what can be done? One word – Dermaplaning.

Dermaplaning is a safe and simple procedure that will exfoliate the top layer of your skin and gets rid of vellus hair at the same time. Surprisingly, this procedure has been around for decades. Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe both had dermaplaning treatments regularly!

Dermaplaning can be considered a "lunchtime" procedure because it's done quickly with few-to-no side effects. When done correctly, the removal of this hair can feel like your clinician is brushing a feather along your skin. Not to worry ladies, your hair will not grow back darker or thicker afterwards. The vellus hairs are so fine and soft, you cannot do anything to make them thicker – including shaving them. You'll benefit from healthier looking that is as smooth as a baby's bottom! This will also allow for the products you are using to penetrate the skin easier and make sure you are receiving optimal results. This can be coupled with other procedures such as facials, chemical peels, and/or lasers for a more luxurious and pampering experience.

Delicious Recipes for Radiant Skin
Chia Seed Pudding:  1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/4 cup chia seeds, 1 packet Stevia. Mix almond milk, chia seeds, and Stevia in a small bowl or jar. Let set in refrigerator overnight. Next day remove from fridge and make sure it's thick like pudding. Top with blueberries, coconut flakes and cinnamon. Makes a great snack or dessert!

Selika's Mean Green Vegetable Juice: 1-1/2 cups spinach, 2 celery stalks, 1 cucumber, 1 apple, 1/2 lime, and 1 small piece of ginger. Put all ingredients in a juicer and enjoy!

Kale Salad: 2 cups of kale massaged with 1/2 tsp of olive oil, 1 tbsp hemp seed, 1/4 cup avocado, 1/2 cup grated raw beets, wild salmon, and 1 small roasted sweet potato. Great meal after a workout!

Glowing Skin Salad: 2 cooked beets, 1 radish, 1 tbsp red onion, 1 tbsp Italian parsley, 1 lemon juiced, 1/2 cup red cabbage, 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds, 1/4 avocado, pinch of sea salt. Toss together all ingredients except lemon juice and sea salt. Drizzle with lemon juice and add salt. This pairs perfectly with white fish!
